INTERVIEW WITH ACTOR

 

Me: So Kelsen, what was filming '2 FACED' like?

 

Kelsen: It was definitely an experience. It's something very different and very unusual for the teen drama community, to have the male be the main character.The whole idea is very unique and I feel like the crew have done an amazing job in making sure everything is perfect and in place. Charlie is an amazing character who definitely faces some real issues. He's very closed. Charlie is so in depth with being that popular boy, he doesn't seem to be letting his girlfriend in which becomes a problem that you will see in the movie. His role is very hard to portray perfectly, because he's such a diverse character with such a split personality. You may not see that in the title sequence of course, but after it becomes evident.

 

Me: Yes, we've been told that this is a very different movie from others. The whole character of Charlie is very unique and unusual. It's usually a female playing that role. Tell us more about what Charlie is like, and how he manages this double life?

 

Kelsen: Charlie seems to have been getting the hang of managing this double life for a very long time, but naturally as you do in a movie problems emerge where he can't and almost cracks. You'll see that in the movie of course, I don't want to spoil it. We clearly see Charlie at the beginning, and we see that his mother is ill, that he comes home late from work slumped and his mother has alcohol problems which are addressed later on; but when we initially see him we don't believe taht he has this other life, he doesn't look like the popular boy in school, or the boy with the football scholarship. He just seems like a normal kid with problems. But then he goes to school and it all changes - his look, the way he acts, his attitude. Just absolutely everything.

 

Me: Right, so how does this transformation happen? And was it easy to portray the two differing personalities?

 

Kelsen: I'm not allowed to say I'm afraid. And no, definitely not. It was a challenge but we got their in the end.
